Client's Questions Answered
Can soft tissue therapy help chronic or complex conditions?
Yes. We regularly support clients living with long-term pain, neurological conditions, and postural challenges. Our goal is to reduce restriction, improve comfort, and support function – not offer “cures.”
Do I need to be injured to come?
Not at all. We treat a wide range of clients, including those with stress-related tension, fatigue, or mobility issues. Some clients visit monthly as a preventative measure.
Is it painful?
No. Techniques are adapted to your body. Some can feel intense, but we work with you and your comfort levels – and we do not “force” tissue to change.
Do you offer movement or rehab support too?
Yes – when relevant, we build personalised home plans via Physitrack, the same tool used by many physiotherapists.
How is this different from a standard massage?
Clinical soft tissue therapy includes a full assessment and is tailored to your specific presentation — whether that’s a chronic condition, post-surgical recovery, or a complex pain pattern. It’s our most in-depth service, designed for clients who need more than a general treatment. For sports-specific recovery and rehab, we also offer Remedial Sports Massage & Rehab.
Can I have treatment if I have a prosthesis or artificial limb?
Absolutely. We regularly work with clients who have prosthetic limbs or have undergone amputation. Soft tissue therapy can help manage compensatory pain, muscle tension, residual limb discomfort, and scar tissue that often develop around the affected area. Your therapist will adapt every session to your body, your comfort, and your goals – whether that’s pain relief, improved mobility, or supporting rehabilitation. Just let us know when you book so we can plan your session accordingly.
Can I have treatment if I have hypermobility or Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS)?
Yes. Hypermobility and EDS require a careful, informed approach – not all therapists understand the difference. We adapt pressure, technique, and pacing to support your joints and soft tissue without overstretching or flaring symptoms. If you’ve been told “you’re just flexible,” we take it more seriously than that.
Can I have treatment if I have a pacemaker or implanted cardiac device?
Yes. We’ll avoid techniques and equipment that could interfere with your device (such as shockwave therapy), but hands-on soft tissue work is absolutely safe and effective. Just let us know at booking so we can plan appropriately.
Can I have treatment if I have fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS)?
Yes – and we understand that “just have a deep tissue massage” isn’t the answer. We tailor pressure, session length, and pacing to your tolerance and energy levels. Many clients with fibromyalgia or ME/CFS find that regular, carefully managed sessions help reduce flare-ups and improve day-to-day comfort.
Can I have treatment if I have lymphoedema?
Yes. We offer Lymphatouch therapy alongside clinical soft tissue work to support lymphatic drainage, reduce swelling, and improve tissue health – particularly after surgery or cancer treatment. Your therapist will assess what’s appropriate for your stage and symptoms.
Can I have treatment if I have metal implants, pins, or plates?
Yes. Surgical metalwork is more common than people think, and it doesn’t prevent treatment. We work around and alongside implant sites, focusing on the soft tissue tension, scar adhesions, and compensatory patterns that often develop post-surgery.
Can I have treatment if I'm autistic or have sensory processing differences?
Yes. We offer sensory-aware sessions with adjustable lighting, minimal small talk if preferred, clear communication about what’s happening and when, and full control over pressure and pacing. You don’t need to mask here – just tell us what helps, and we’ll adapt.
Can I have treatment if I have osteoporosis?
Yes, with appropriate technique. We avoid high-pressure work on vulnerable areas and focus on gentle, effective soft tissue techniques that relieve pain and improve mobility without risk. Your safety always comes first.
Can I have treatment if I take blood thinners?
Yes. We adjust pressure and technique to minimise bruising risk. It’s worth mentioning your medication when you book so your therapist can plan the session with that in mind.
