John Hughes – Founder & Clinic Director
John Hughes founded Advance SRM Therapies in 2015 with a clear mission: to provide expert, evidence-based soft tissue therapy that helps people move better, recover faster, and live pain-free. With a Level 5 Clinical Soft Tissue Therapy qualification (LSSM) and over a decade of experience in clinical soft tissue therapy, injury rehabilitation, and movement mechanics, John has worked with everyone from professional athletes to office workers, helping clients overcome pain and dysfunction with tailored, hands-on care.
Before launching Advance SRM, John had a successful career in education, bringing a unique perspective to his practice. His background as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) teacher has shaped his patient-first approach, ensuring treatments are accessible, effective, and grounded in real understanding tailored to an individual's lifestyle, abilities, and goals.
Prior to this, John’s journey took him across the world. He spent time in Japan studying martial arts, immersing himself in the country’s deep-rooted traditions of movement, discipline, and well-being. His passion for movement also extends to his background in rugby, where he developed a strong understanding of sports injuries and recovery, shaping his approach to hands-on therapy.
Away from the clinic, John is a dedicated family man and father of four, often found exploring the outdoors, engaging in martial arts, or sharing his love of movement and biomechanics. His passion for learning and commitment to ethical, high-quality therapy continue to drive the growth of Advance SRM Therapies as a trusted clinic for pain relief and rehabilitation.

Jo Wakeford – Senior TherapistI’ve always had a passion for helping people, so becoming a Soft Tissue Therapist felt like the perfect path for me. Treatment isn’t just about muscles and movement—it’s about understanding the whole person. Whether you’re an athlete, an exhausted parent, an office worker, a builder, or on your feet all day, your daily life and experiences shape your body. By taking the time to listen and understand these factors, I can tailor treatments to relieve pain, restore movement, and support long-term well-being. As a mum of two, I know firsthand how much pregnancy and parenting can impact the body. I remember the sciatic pain, the tight shoulders from feeding, and the imbalanced hips from carrying little ones—all experiences that led me to specialise in pregnancy and postnatal massage. I also recognised the lack of support for C-section recovery, so I trained in scar tissue therapy to help postnatal mums regain sensation, reduce pain, and improve movement in the pelvic and abdominal area. Alongside my clinical work, I also offer Calm & Restore, a deeply relaxing treatment designed to ease tension, calm the nervous system, and promote overall well-being. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, struggling with stress, or simply in need of dedicated time to unwind, Calm & Restore provides a space for true rest and recovery. I live in Clanfield with my husband and two school-age children, and I love working with clients from all walks of life. Charley Price – Junior TherapistWe’re excited to welcome Charley Price to the Advance SRM Therapies team as our Junior Therapist. Recently qualified in Sports Massage Therapy, Charley is passionate about helping people feel and move better, providing high-quality sports massage to support recovery, ease muscle tension, and enhance performance. With a strong foundation in sports massage techniques, Charley works with athletes, active individuals, and anyone experiencing muscular discomfort. Whether you need help recovering from training, managing everyday aches and pains, or improving flexibility, Charley delivers focused, hands-on treatment to keep you moving at your best. As part of the Advance SRM team, Charley is gaining valuable mentorship, hands-on experience, and ongoing professional training to develop her expertise further.
